Heads up road is currently flooded between blunham and moggerhanger at the old railway bridge. Just driven through it.

Good foot deep of water.

John, while Jordans reopens tomorrow (2nd) I do not think that the cafe or restaurant will be serving.

You could head into Biggleswade Market square to Surfin Cafe. Not specifically a cycling stop but it has a large outside area in the market Square and does sell cakes.

Maybe you have decided that you don't want to pay for Strava and move to a different service or just want a copy of all your data, did you know that if you can request all your data including rides & photos from Strava.

I recently requested the data and the rides come in GPX or FIT.gz format.

In Strava go to your Settings, choose My Account then under "Download or Deleted Your Account" is a button to "Get started".  I just did part 2 (I didn't delete my account).  It also allows you to pull this data once a week.  The email cam through in less than an hour and it took a couple of minutes to download the data.

I uploaded them into Ride with GPS (other tools are available).  It uploaded nearly 400 activities in a few minutes.  You may lose the ride titles but you can edit each ride.  I found Ride with GPS while lacking some of the functions of Strave does include mapping and segments (though there are a limited number) plus you can create ride collections so if you went away you can group rides with photos and share plus you can set goals (which has always been paid for in Strava).  I plan to use both side by side for a while to see which gives me most benefit but I am already liking Ride with GPS and it as compatible with Garmin Connect and Relive still works with it.

Darren,
That's ideal mate, thanks. I will be down in London at 5am so should be able to get a space. Don't suppose you have a route back from the finish as well? Don't worry if not, I can do one.

Gareth,

Assuming you are talking about ride day and parking near to westfield..

I parked in Langthorne Road in Leyton last year. It is a short ride to the Olympic Park. I regularly park there for football at Leyton Orient and have never had any issues.

It is a residential street but there are no weekend parking restrictions.

It is quite easily accessed via Wansted or Leytonstone.

This is the route through https://strava.app.link/gJeThv6rxY

We stayed in Hawes at the foot of buttertubs.

From Harrogate you could ride out to Parley Bridge (nice cafe by the river) and the head up Greenhow hill, dropping into ilkey for Cow and Calf or Otley for Otley Chevin.

Alternatively from Patley Bridge go up Lofthouses to Masham and back via Ripon

If you drive to Hawes you can ride over plenty of climbs even taking on Tan Hill which has the highest pub in England (you do need to go over Buttertubs first)

Finally if you want as close an alpine climb as you can get in England head over to Knock in the Pennines and take on Great Dun Fell, 4.5 miles (with 700m gain) of climbing pleasure on a road to nowhere and usually no cars. Counting down the snow poles is fun.

Road is having surface dressing applied today & tomorrow.

Also Sutton Crossroad at base of Sutton hill is being closed for 4 days for resurfacing. starts tomorrow.

I will be coming - yay - happy with either route.

If everyone is going on the "official" route I will meet you between Hinxworth and Ashwell I will ride in that general direction.

If anyone wants to do the alternative I will happily ride that group to guide for some of it. I will meet in Wrestlingworth at the Chequers.

Either way will be waiting about 8:40.

You can let me know with a text/whatsapp in the morning when you want me to go.

Hi, I understand from some committee members that this coming Saturday's special is to Grafham Water.  I hope I am not jumping the gun.

I was asked to see if I could suggest a shorter router as the 71 miles is possibly off putting to some.  I have done my best but still cannot get it under 60 miles.  It includes a new section of cycle path through St Neots allowing the avoidance of the town centre in crossing the river ouse.

It is also quite flat for the distance - https://www.strava.com/routes/14361164

If the old route is preferred I am ok, fyi the road to Langford is now fully open so there is no restrictions through there.

Anyone wants to get away from the football on Saturday? I am planning a ride up to Grafham Water on Saturday with Salvo.

We are meeting in Wrestlingworth at 1:30pm. Won't be a high pace due to the warm weather.

I will post a route later.
