Dunwich Dynamo

Anyone heard or tried this event? Looks intriguing.

https://www.facebook.com/groups/DunwichDynamo/

Ride from London (Hackney) to Dunwich (near Southwold) in Suffolk overnight on 8 - 9 July setting out about 9pm.

185-200 km, no entry fee (just turn up and go) and only a map to get you there.

Apparently approx 2000 people did it last year.

Re: Dunwich Dynamo

Yes, my friend's done it a few times, and someone at the club.  A dip in the sea and breakfast on the beach is the thing.

There is a coach back, but you have to book

Re: Dunwich Dynamo

Yes, I have seen that the local train company specifically ban bikes from the trains on that day.

I was thinking if I could get someone (ahem the Wife ahem) to do an early morning pickup from Suffolk (about 9am, plenty of time for breakfast and a paddle ) and she wouldn't have to leave at the crack of dawn, 2 hours or less at that time in the morning (I used to commute & stay in Ipswich and could do that in 1 1/2 hours on a quiet A14 early on a Monday).

Re: Dunwich Dynamo

I too was looking at this.

In terms of getting home from this event, surely the answer is to drive to Dunwich on the Saturday afternoon, take the bike on the train into London for the start, and then drive home on the Sunday...perhaps after a sleep on the beech.
