While so many of the club's activities have been put on hold this year there is still time for one epic ride before the days draw in - a hundred miler through Suffolk.
We're targeting Saturday 12th September for the ride, with the following Saturday 19th September in reserve if the weather is lousy on the earlier date. The route's here Suffolk hundred mile route . It takes in some familiar roads and a whole swath of Suffolk countryside which I'm sure will be new to many of us.
Outline itinerary is as follows. Club pace of 15 mph average is the target with mini peletons of no more than six riders (unless social distancing guidelines change).
Leaving the Heath Sports Club at 8am (ample free parking for those driving to the start)
27 miles to Debden Barns;coffee 10-10.30am (approx)
41 miles around Suffolk to the Blue Egg; lunch 1.15-2.15pm (approx)
37 miles to Royston
There's also an option to head home after Debden Barns for those wanting something shorter. On the return from the Blue Egg we can either stop at Bicicletta in Saffron Walden for a coffee or head straight back to the Sports Club or the Bull for something stronger.
Please do post there if you want to come along or have any questions.

Richard, I fancy a long ride... What’s the plan for managing numbers on the road and cv19... or do we just turn up and sort groups on the day?

I’m in

David, re managing numbers, yes, I think we'll just have to make the call on the day

I’m in, but a little nervous about the distance. Hopefully we can organise ourselves to comply with the new rules.
